A Mother's Day Story
Updated: Jan 12, 2020

Several years ago, when I still lived at home with my parents (I think I was in high school), I recall Mother’s day was coming up soon. I headed to Christiana Mall on a mission to get something nice for my mom. I ended up in the Hallmark store and found a mother themed mug which couldn’t have been more than $10 (she had a huge mug collection), matching gift bag and a card. I will be honest, I didn’t really think much of it, when I made the purchase and just hoped she would appreciate the thought and gesture. On Mother’s day, I presented her with the gift. After she opened it up, she burst into tears. I wasn’t sure whether they were happy or sad tears until she turned and just hugged me so tight, I could barely take a breath. She then told me how much she appreciated my gift. It wasn’t until now (being a working mom myself) that I really and truly understood how much the gift meant to her. See, the wording on the mug stated “Working moms work wonders”. There is not a day that goes by, that I do not struggle with how to be the best mom I can be for my son. So, I now see, how her reading the words on that mug created a moment of joy that neither of us will forget. Also knowing that my mom also struggled with the same thing I and all the moms I know deal with is somewhat comforting. I can only hope that one day, I will receive a similar gift from my son. My mom always put everyone and everything ahead of herself. She demanded excellence from my brother and I on every level. I wouldn’t be who I am today without my amazing mom. She is my biggest supporter and an inspiration to me every day. I hope this message brings her peace and joy on this Mother’s Day!
Love you Mom!!!!

My Mom absolutely LOVES Ave Maria!! Last year on mother's day, I sent her my recorded version of the original song. I recently, recorded a newer version by Giulio Caccini which is my favorite:
